Goals

  • To provide a positive, safe and healthy experience for children and young adults with diabetes.
  • To educate children and young adults regarding diabetes and foster independence, self-discipline and responsibility.
  • To promote to the children and young adults that there are no limitations to their goals and aspirations so long as they take care to their diabetes.
  • To build relationships between the children, young adults, staff, volunteers and parents/guardians that will last a lifetime.

OBJECTIVES

  • Coordinate an environment for a positive, safe and healthy environment through medical, dietary and mental needs planning with the physicians, nurses, dieticians, child life specialists and volunteers.
  • Provide an educational curriculum that broadens the individuals understanding of diabetes and develop activities that encourage independence, self-discipline and responsibility.
  • Encourage everyone to meet and interact with other individuals with diabetes and develop relationships with positive role models.
  • Create an environment that provides a welcome, concerning and open interaction between children, young adults, staff, volunteers and parents/guardians
